Wuhai Longyouwan National Wetland Park

Wuhai Longyouwan National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Wuhai Longyouwan National Wetland Park in Inner Mongolia is located at the northwest corner of Haibowan District, bordered by Table Mountain to the east and the Yellow River to the west. It was formed by the lateral seepage of Yellow River water. Additionally, seasonal gully water systems such as Qianligou and Molegou flow from east to west, providing abundant water sources for the Longyouwan Wetland. Wetlands are vividly referred to as the "kidneys of the Earth," especially as an extremely rare resource in the arid regions of northwestern China. The Longyouwan Wetland not only plays a vital role in blocking sandstorms from the Ulan Buh Desert, maintaining ecological security in the middle and upper reaches of the Yellow River basin, and purifying water quality, but it also serves as an important "transit hub" on the East Asian–Australian Flyway for migratory birds globally and on the Qinghai Lake–Sanjiang Wetland Flyway for migratory birds in China. Therefore, protecting the Longyouwan Wetland is of great significance.

The planned area of Wuhai Longyouwan National Wetland Park in Inner Mongolia is 890 hectares, divided into five functional zones: the ecological conservation zone, the restoration and reconstruction zone, the science education and publicity zone, the rational utilization zone, and the management and service zone. The ecological conservation zone will protect the wetland habitat through means such as closure for natural regeneration and scientific research monitoring; the restoration and reconstruction zone will further restore the structure and function of the wetland ecosystem by implementing projects such as wetland habitat reconstruction; the rational utilization zone will develop a series of tourism product projects based on wetland resources to create an ecological park; the science education and publicity zone will establish a comprehensive wetland exhibition hall to carry out activities such as showcasing wetland biodiversity and providing science education.
