Chantilly is located about 50 kilometers north of central Paris, France, and is renowned for its château, forests, and racecourse. To this day, the area around the town remains covered by vast forests, which were once hunting grounds for royalty and nobility. The Chantilly Racecourse is one of the most prominent racetracks in France, primarily hosting flat racing events. It covers an area of 65 hectares and is located near the Forest of Chantilly.

Visitors can take a train to Chantilly Station and walk toward the direction of the forest. A tree-lined path leads to the Chantilly Racecourse. The forest is home to towering pine, oak, chestnut, and maple trees. After a roughly half-hour walk through the woods, you’ll arrive at the lush green racecourse and see the château in the distance. Established in 1834, this racecourse has long been one of the most beloved in the world and is hailed as one of the most beautiful sites related to horse racing. The track features clockwise layouts with interlocking loops. The main track is 2,400 meters long, another is 2,150 meters, and there is also a variable-length track ranging from 1,400 to 2,400 meters. Here, the blue sky, white clouds, and green turf are always vibrant and full of energy.

Chantilly has been a center of equestrianism and horse racing since ancient times, attracting many royals and nobles to ride and hunt. Even today, regular horse racing events are still held here annually. The château next to the racecourse was actually a stable, which has now been converted into a Horse Museum. The sheer size and exquisite design of this stable-turned-museum, which resembles a castle, leave visitors in awe. At its peak, this stable housed 240 horses and 250 hunting dogs. Today, the stables have been transformed into a museum where dozens of pedigreed horses are kept, with each horse’s birth information displayed at the entrance of its stall. The grandeur of the stables allows you to imagine the lively scene of neighing horses, barking hounds, and bustling stable hands of the past.
