A Pokémon-themed summer wonderland: “1,000 Pikachus” pop-up in Yokohama, Japan

Yokohama’s annual “1,000 Pikachu Pop-Up” is set to make a comeback this year as well. Unlike previous years where Pikachu simply danced, this year water elements will be added, with a series of performances taking place from August 7 to 14 in the Minato Mirai 21 area of Yokohama.
The “1,000 Pikachu Pop-Up,” which has been held since 2014, is a beloved summer event in Yokohama. The event features numerous Pikachu decorations that liven up the streets of Minato Mirai 21, and Pikachu also makes surprise dance appearances throughout the area, turning it into a limited-time summer theme park dedicated to the iconic Pokémon.

The 2016 1,000 Pikachu Pop-Up kicks off on August 7. In addition to offering exclusive merchandise, the event plans to introduce water elements this year, bringing even more exciting street performances than before.
