The Museum of the Great War in Péronne is housed within a 13th-century medieval castle and highlights the collective efforts of soldiers and civilians against the backdrop of war, revealing the brutality of conflict. Its exhibits cover not only military and civilian life, front-line and behind-enemy-lines scenarios, but also feature two permanent specialized sections dedicated to prisoners of war and children during World War I. The Musée Alfred Danicourt houses early Gallic coins, antiques, gold jewelry, Merovingian tomb artifacts, as well as 19th- and 20th-century local paintings and prehistoric relics. In addition, the west tower and chapel of the Gothic Flamboyant-style Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, numerous monuments, and the charming streets of Péronne are also not to be missed.
