Flying Cow Ranch

Renowned for its pastoral scenery, the Central Youth Dairy Farm — Flying Cow Ranch — is located on the slopes of Nanheli in Tongxiao Township. With its sprawling green meadows and flocks of grazing sheep and cattle, it resembles a scene from New Zealand or Australia, making it one of the premier leisure farms in western Taiwan. Today, amid the trend of agritourism, the ranch has expanded beyond its core livestock business to also become a holiday haven for rural experiences, ecological conservation, and nature-based leisure.

Covering an area of 45 hectares, Flying Cow Ranch is designed in the style of an American farmstead. At first glance, the vast expanse of pastureland offers a sense of natural grandeur and tranquil charm. Meandering wooden fences and black-and-white cattle strolling leisurely create a laid-back, refreshing atmosphere. The scent of fresh grass in the air invigorates the senses. The cluster of red-roofed wooden cabins dotting the fields serve as cowsheds for the herd. The visitor center and accommodation cabins also carry a strong flavor of European-American farmhouse style. The surrounding forest that embraces the ranch, dense with tall trees, adds an extra touch of serene beauty.

Behind the ranch lies a historic salt-carrying ancient trail. The path features stone steps arranged in a circular pattern and is shaded by dense foliage along the way, leading to the Dasanshan Daxingshan Temple.

Transportation Directions

1. Take the Miaoli Bus bound for Dajia from in front of the Miaoli or Hsinchu train stations, or take the Ubus bound for Shalu from Taipei North Station. Both buses stop at Tongxiao Station. From there, transfer to the Miaoli Bus bound for Fuxing and get off at Qixia Station. Walk for about 20 minutes following the signs to reach the ranch.

2. Take the Western Line of the Taiwan Railways and get off at Tongxiao Station, then follow the same route as above.
