Muzhe Hobbit House

Located in Sanyi, Miaoli, Muzhe Hobbit House was inspired by the Hobbit Village from The Lord of the Rings. The goal was to create similar circular cave houses in Taiwan, but due to the humid climate, digging houses into caves wasn’t suitable. After nearly 5 years of work, they built a round building resembling an owl shape, with a total of 8 rooms.

Liyuanju

Just looking at the photos, you might think you’re in Europe. A pure white roof mimicking a Gothic-style church is hidden within this Miaoli homestay. The hollowed-out exterior design and the light yellow interior of the church add a playful touch. “Liyuanju” is run by an artist couple who collaborated with a cultural introduction expert to create this cultural space. The couple hopes visitors can experience the artistic atmosphere here. The interior is minimalistic, and the peaceful surroundings make guests reluctant to leave.

The homestay has built five standalone wooden cabins. Compared to the rich array of installation art in the garden, the accommodation facilities are relatively simple, so guests are advised to bring their own towels and other essentials. Additionally, “Liyuanju” also welcomes guests to enjoy outdoor activities in nature, where they can fully immerse themselves in the natural environment.

Shuye Villa

The entire property covers 3 hectares, though only just over 600 ping are currently in use. Built on the foundation of ecological architecture, it was initially not intended to be a homestay but for private use. To avoid harming the land, the builders went around trees instead of cutting them down and didn’t level the ground, making construction quite difficult. It took 4–5 years to complete, resulting in one main building and four distinctive villas. The villas are surrounded by native camphor forests and bamboo, offering lush greenery and a serene view. Outside the main building is a swimming pool with refreshingly cool mountain spring water, giving the feeling of freely enjoying nature. Due to the cooler water temperature, the pool is only open from June 1 to mid-October each year.
