Explore Miaoli Inside Out – Hit the Trails and Shores with the Handbook

The Miaoli County Government International Culture and Tourism Bureau, in collaboration with the Miaoli County Homestay Development Association, has released the “Miaoli Boutique Homestays” guidebook to promote local distinctive homestays. Centered around seven major travel themes — “Mountain Town Scenery,” “Handicraft Experiences,” “Cultural Fragrance,” “Famous Mountains & Leisure,” “Fruit Picking Fun,” and “Coastal Escapades” — the guide introduces scenic spots and homestays along each route, featuring insider recommendations for hidden gems and local cuisine from homestay experts. It includes complete information on homestays across all districts of Miaoli.

The “Taiwan Miaoli Self-Guided Travel Handbook” is a travel resource designed for domestic and international backpackers who love independent travel. With 127 pages, it provides a bilingual Chinese-English introduction to Miaoli County’s travel guide, covering sections such as “Basic Information About Miaoli,” “Your First Encounter with Miaoli,” “Miaoli’s Seven Theme-Based Journeys,” and “Practical Travel Info in Miaoli.” It offers a thorough overview of Miaoli’s history, geography, population, economy, culture, climate, language, dining habits, transportation, accommodation, tourist attractions, and related websites.

Another publication, “Love Staying in Miaoli,” compiles information on Miaoli’s seven key tourism routes as well as the county’s licensed hotels and homestays, presenting a full picture of the best options in 2009, including top-rated resort hotels, business hotels, motels, homestays with superior overall facilities, best scenic views, most distinctive themed homestays, simplest lifestyle retreats, and best local cuisine homestays.

Following the “Miaoli Play All-Around Travel Quarterly,” “Travel Guide Passport,” and “Imagery of Maili Travel Series,” these three handbooks market Miaoli through comprehensive content and high-quality visuals. “Miaoli Boutique Homestays” is priced at NT$300, while the “Taiwan Miaoli Self-Guided Travel Handbook” and “Love Staying in Miaoli” are available free of charge. Starting now, the public can purchase or pick up the latest travel handbooks at the Miaoli County Tourism Service Center. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
