Dapu Reservoir

Dapu Reservoir is located in Huguang and Fuxing Villages, Emei Township, Hsinchu County. It was constructed by damming the upper reaches of the Emei River. The reservoir is 98.8 meters long and 24.4 meters high, featuring four floodgates. It primarily irrigates farmland in four townships—Xiangshan, Baoshan, Zhunan, and Toufen—and also serves flood control and drainage functions. Beside the dam, a memorial plaque inscribed with the words “Harnessing Heaven’s Gifts” was penned by Mr. Jiang Menglin to commemorate the arduousness of the construction project.

The waters of Dapu Reservoir vary in width, connected by both sides of the shore via an iron cable suspension bridge. The lake is dotted with numerous small islands covered in lush vegetation, which from a distance look like emerald gems scattered across the blue waters. To the southwest of the reservoir lies a flat grassy area suitable for camping. Camping here offers a breathtaking view: to the east is the deep blue lake, and to the west, verdant mountain ridges stretch as far as the eye can see—an endless expanse of green that refreshes the spirit.
