Rediscover the tech city by bike: Hsinchu to launch a "public bicycle system"

The Hsinchu City Government announced on the 9th that it will establish a public bicycle system in the urban area, with plans to set up 10 rental stations this year and expand to 30 next year. It hopes that the introduction of public bicycles will allow visitors to rediscover Hsinchu.

The Hsinchu City Government stated that the public bicycle system is currently still under tender and the name and pricing have not yet been finalized. However, it is currently planned to first set up stations this year at key transportation and historical sites such as Hsinchu Railway Station, Chenghuang Temple, and Hsinchu Park. In the future, visitors will be able to explore the city of Hsinchu by bicycle.

Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien said that Hsinchu is not just a tech city but also has a profound cultural heritage. The old town area alone contains 25 historic monuments and historical buildings — the highest density in the country — including four national historic sites, 15 municipal historic sites, and 17 century-old shops. These are all valuable assets accumulated over time. The city hopes to invite everyone to take a light trip to Hsinchu through the establishment of the public bicycle system.
