Green Grass Lake

Green Grass Lake is located to the east of Hsinchu and was developed quite early as a reservoir formed by gathering the Yage Creek. Though not large in size, the lake is surrounded by numerous temples and lush greenery, making it the oldest scenic area in Hsinchu.

Near Green Grass Lake is Lingyin Temple, which was converted from a former Japanese Shinto shrine and is dedicated to Zhuge Liang. The couplets and inscriptions within the temple mostly praise his extraordinary wisdom and strategic mind, giving the place a somewhat mystical and Taoist flavor.
