Hong Kong Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre

The Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre (English: Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre) is located at 401 Castle Peak Road, Ting Kau, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is an exhibition venue themed around the "Hong Kong Airport Core Programme." Opened in 1996, it was managed and operated by the New Airport Projects Co-ordination Office. After the office was disbanded in 1998, the exhibition centre came under the administration of the Tsuen Wan District Office of the Home Affairs Department.

The Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre features five exhibition zones that introduce the ten core projects of the "Hong Kong Airport Core Programme" through models, photographs, and text panels, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the entire project. Outside the exhibition centre stands the "Hong Kong Workers Memorial," commemorating the 49 workers who lost their lives during the construction of the new Hong Kong International Airport, as well as the 2,291 workers who died in industrial accidents between 1989 and 1998. The rooftop observation deck and the garden outside the centre are equipped with telescopes for visitors to enjoy views of the Tsing Ma Bridge and its surroundings.

Architectural History

The original site of the Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre was Homi Villa, a white-coloured villa built in the early 1930s by Indian businessman J.H. Ruttonjee. At the time, it served as a residence for the Hong Kong Brewery Limited, which was constructing Hong Kong's first brewery in Sham Tseng. The building was later purchased by the Hong Kong Government and repurposed as a civil service quarters. Financial Secretary Sir John Cowperthwaite resided in the villa starting in 1973.

Due to its historical value and scenic location offering views of the Tsing Ma Bridge and Ma Wan Channel, the white villa was converted into an exhibition centre by the relevant Hong Kong government department in 1995 to introduce the "Hong Kong Airport Core Programme." It opened in early 1996. On January 22, 2010, the Antiquities Advisory Board designated the white villa as a Grade III historic building.
