The Tongchang South Mosque in Jinguizhen, which blends Han and Tang architectural art with Islamic culture, is situated in Xinqi Village, a Hui ethnic enclave in Jinguizhen, Helan County. It lies about 15 kilometers west of downtown Helan County and approximately 1 kilometer east of the Yellow River. As one of the oldest grand mosques in Helan County, it has a history of about 100 years. The mosque features a distinctive architectural style and covers an area of 6,670

square meters. It serves as a venue for religious activities for the Hui community. During the weekly Friday prayers or annual traditional Hui festivals, hundreds or even thousands of Muslims gather here to worship. The mosque complex includes a main prayer hall, ablution facilities, and a classical-style pavilion, along with many valuable pine, cypress, trees, and flowers. The entire architectural layout is well-organized and grand in scale. With its unique and elegant solemnity, as well as rich Islamic architectural artistry, the Tongchang South Mosque has become both a religious venue for the local Muslim community and one of the county’s tourist attractions.
