Repositioning underway as Yilan Cultural & Creative Center is renamed “Ludong Cultural & Creative Park”

The Yilan County Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau has officially renamed the “Yilan County Cultural & Creative Center” to the “Ludong Cultural & Creative Park,” redefining the park’s function, integrating local micro-cultural creativity and community industries, and adjusting the exhibition scheduling process to adopt an open application and public review system, thereby providing cultural and creative organizations with more equitable opportunities to showcase their work.

Located within the Lanyang Forest Culture Park, the “Yilan County Cultural & Creative Center” was one of the earliest hubs for promoting cultural and creative industries in Yilan, playing a pioneering role in the county’s cultural and creative development. Since its establishment in November 2008, leveraging the tourism appeal of the forest culture park, its various exhibition halls have attracted nearly 30,000 visitors per month, with visitor numbers exceeding 50,000 during holiday periods.

Now that cultural and creative hubs across Yilan County have matured, the Cultural Affairs Bureau aims to integrate all local cultural resources and consolidate creative energy by renaming the venue to the “Ludong Cultural & Creative Park” and redefining its function. It will emphasize a concept that combines individual studios with performance spaces, focusing on the introduction and development of local micro-cultural creativity and community-based creative industries.

The park currently plans to offer four cultural and creative exhibition halls as performance and display spaces. The exhibition scheduling process has been adjusted from the previous model of government-commissioned invitations to a biannual open application and public review system, offering general cultural and creative entities more equitable opportunities to exhibit, while also ensuring diversity in the displayed content. The application period for exhibitions from July to December 2014 ends on April 10; those interested in applying for exhibitions at the cultural and creative halls can download the application forms directly from the Yilan County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau’s website.
