Thousands of cherry blossoms and a 3-hectare cosmos sea of flowers in Datong Township, Yilan — blooming this weekend

As the post-holiday period progresses, cherry blossoms are gradually coming into full bloom. For a spring outing in Yilan County, besides visiting the Sanxing Flower Sea adorned with the giant yellow wooden horse "Shaking Rocking Horse," the cherry blossom season in Datong Township will also kick off this weekend. Together with the intertwined sea of cosmos and rapeseed flowers, Yilan County is filled with a strong sense of spring.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, the weather cooperated wonderfully, with several consecutive days of clear skies across Taiwan. The Sanxing Flower Sea welcomed large crowds of visitors, and the 2-story-tall giant yellow wooden horse "Shaking Rocking Horse" standing amidst the flowers attracted even more attention, drawing an estimated tens of thousands of tourists daily to admire the blooms. Huang Hsi-yung, the head of Sanxing Township, also stated that due to the flower sea's popularity among visitors, after discussions between the Sanxing Township Office and the Yilan County Government, it is planned to expand the flower sea area to 500 hectares in the second half of this year, aiming to present a new image of the Sanxing Flower Sea.

On the other side of Yilan County, Datong Township will also launch a series of flower appreciation activities this weekend (February 8–9) at Pizih Village Riverside Park, Jiuliaoxi Ecological Area, and other locations. The cherry blossom area at Pizih Village Riverside Park has thousands of cherry blossoms gradually blooming, and the park is also planted with approximately 3 hectares of cosmos and rapeseed fields — offering stunning floral views whether you look up or down. In addition to eco-tourism, Jiuliaoxi Ecological Area also offers experiences such as traditional archery competitions and glutinous rice pounding. The Datong Township Office welcomes visitors to come appreciate the cherry blossoms, enjoy local cuisine, and experience traditional crafts in Datong Township.
