The series of events for the Yoshino cherry blossom season in Datong, Yilan has kicked off!

Along the routes in Datong Township, Yilan County, mountain cherries, double-flowered cherries, and Yoshino cherries have gradually come into full bloom, attracting many visitors to enjoy the blossoms. The Datong Township Office and Lancheng New Moon Plaza have also jointly organized the 2015 Datong Township Cherry Blossom Festival, which officially launched its series of events on the 7th, followed by events on the 14th and 28th. These allow visitors not only to admire the blossoms but also to gain a deeper understanding of the authentic Atayal traditional culture and cuisine.

This year, the township office has also specially printed a cherry blossom viewing guide to share the blossom-viewing spots within Datong Township, including Tuchang, Yulan, Songluo, Mingchi, and Piyexi Creek, among others. This allows visitors to freely wander through the sea of over 20,000 cherry blossoms in Datong Township without dealing with traffic congestion, and to enjoy a romantic atmosphere. The “2015 Datong Township Cherry Blossom Festival” series of events held an opening ceremony at Lancheng New Moon Plaza on February 7th. On that day, in addition to inviting Atayal artists and performance groups, there were also DIY experience booths for Atayal culture. From February 14th to February 28th, there will be additional activities such as a weekend farmers' market, Atayal traditional handicraft DIY, photo check-ins for prizes, and lucky draws, inviting everyone to come and experience the romantic cherry blossoms of Datong Township along with the enthusiasm and vitality of its indigenous people.
