Yinchuan World Petroglyph Museum

The Yinchuan World Petroglyph Museum is located within the Helan Mountain Petroglyph Scenic Area in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It covers a total area of [square meters], with a building area of 4,106 square meters, an exhibition area of 2,000 square meters, and a continuous display line stretching 556 meters. The museum was closed on November 13, 2016, for renovation and upgrading, and reopened on July 16, 2017.

The exhibition areas of the Petroglyph Museum are divided into the foyer, central hall, World Petroglyph Exhibition Area, China Petroglyph Exhibition Area, Helan Mountain Petroglyph Exhibition Area, Petroglyph Research and Exchange Area, Thematic Exhibition Area, and Petroglyph Information and Archive Section. The displays have been updated and expanded to include the most representative petroglyphs from around the world along with the latest research findings, enriching the exhibition content and enhancing functions such as interactive exchange and science education.

The museum centrally displays images, rubbings, individual petroglyph stones, molds, stoneware, primitive artworks (replicas), dioramas, research outcomes (including publications, research diagrams, category distribution maps, international petroglyph chronologies, etc.), information materials, expert profiles, and inscriptions related to petroglyphs from Helan Mountain (including all of Ningxia), China, and the rest of the world. It features a concentrated showcase of 546 of the most representative high-quality petroglyph illustrations, rubbings, mold replicas, oil painting reproductions, and physical artifacts from 31 countries and over 200 regions worldwide, as well as primitive artworks from the same era as the petroglyphs.

The content in the World Petroglyph Exhibition Area is categorized by continent and country/region, featuring classic petroglyph images, replica objects, and VR scenes from over 60 countries. This includes more than 100 images, 15–20 line drawings, 7 scene displays, and multimedia exhibits. In the China Petroglyph Exhibition Area, representative petroglyphs from 20 provinces across the country are displayed by region, including Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Tibet, Qinghai, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hunan, Hubei, and Taiwan.

The Helan Mountain Petroglyph Exhibition Area primarily showcases the most representative petroglyphs and related content within Ningxia. It mainly includes the distribution map of Helan Mountain petroglyphs, the distribution map of Ningxia petroglyphs, and high-quality petroglyphs from various parts of Ningxia (including images, petroglyph replicas, rubbings, and information materials).
