Dawukou Folk Culture Museum

Dawukou Folk Culture Museum was one of the 80 key projects (tasks) of the Dawukou District Committee and government in 2008, specifically constructed by the district's culture and tourism bureau. The museum covers a construction area of 513.8 square meters and consists of three parts: the Folk Museum, the Farmer’s Study, and the Farmer’s Tea House. Construction began in September 2007, completed in late May 2008, and an opening ceremony with an unveiling plaque was held on July 18, marking the museum’s public opening.

The construction of the museum centers around the folk customs of northern Ningxia, complemented by local multicultural elements, and features the folk traditions of Longquan Village. It marks a new step for Dawukou District in inheriting and preserving cultural heritage, as well as advancing rural cultural initiatives. It is the city’s first folk culture museum and also the first of its kind in Ningxia. The museum currently houses 12 exhibition stands and one polychrome sculpture group, with over 380 exhibits in its collection.

The museum not only provides an authentic portrayal of everyday life for ordinary families but also objectively reflects the regional culture of Dawukou, showcasing the simple folkways, rich cultural heritage, and boundless charm of the area’s folk culture. It embodies the deep cultural significance of the northern frontier. The museum also serves as an educational base for primary and secondary schools in Shizuishan City and the Committee on the Care of the Next Generation to teach youth about folk culture.
