After the new Hengchun Railway Station was put into use, the original site of the old station was demolished, freeing up a large public space. The Hengchun County Government is currently working hard to create a new landmark for Hengchun on the east side of the entrance. Recently, the initial form of the project has been completed, sparking considerable curiosity among passersby. The landscape plaza, representing a new look and atmosphere for Hengchun, was designed by a renowned domestic architect. It primarily draws inspiration from the Da-Wu Mountain Range, which symbolizes the continuous stretch of Da-Wu Mountain across Hengchun County—an enduring geographical barrier that has long protected the Hengchun Plain from typhoons, much like a mother figure caring for her home. Hence, it is affectionately referred to as the "Mother of the Earth."

The architect skillfully transformed the natural landscape of Da-Wu Mountain and the imagery of the local guardian deity by using a hollow steel frame to represent the shape of Da-Wu Mountain. The pavement features flowing contour lines, with parts covered in grass, planted with native tree species, and equipped with a misting system to convey the ambiance of the mountains, adding richness and fun. At night, a starry light display is also designed, allowing visitors to experience different scenery whether they visit during the day or evening. This has generated anticipation for the new look and vibe of Hengchun to be unveiled soon.

The construction of the Starry Sky Da-Wu Mountain Plaza is currently about 60% complete and is scheduled to be finished by the end of August, with an official launch in November. An inauguration concert will be held at that time, and visitors are encouraged to attend with family and friends. Once the plaza is completed, the station-front corridor area will become an important landmark for transportation and urban streetscape. Together with the West Hengchun Transfer Station and Hengchun Night Market, it will attract tourists and showcase a new image of Hengchun.
