Pingtung’s fame, bolstered by the beautiful scenes from the domestic film *Cape No. 7*, has led many to think “Pingtung is just Kenting.” Below, we’ll share five spots brimming with healing vibes to create a new kind of memory of Pingtung.

Liangshan Recreational Area
Located within the Maolin National Scenic Area, the Liangshan Recreational Area in Pingtung boasts not only magnificent mountain scenery but also many playful art installations. One popular IG photo spot is the Hobbit House—a tiny colorful-door cottage that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie scene. It’s super fun for photos!

The area also features many brightly colored and eye-catching facilities that dot this green mountain landscape, making Liangshan more than just a hiking destination. Even if you’re not into hiking, it’s a great place for photos and enjoying the lush mountain views.

Dawushan Starry Sky Plaza
After the opening of Pingtung Railway Station’s new terminal, the original site was demolished, opening up a large public space. The county government is creating a new landmark, the “Dawushan Starry Sky Plaza,” on the eastern side of the entrance. Its unique hollow steel frame design resembles the silhouette of Dawushan Mountain, accented with translucent colored glass for a touch of sparkle. Not only is it a daylight photo hotspot, but it has also recently been lit up at night, transforming the plaza into a dazzling, dreamlike starry sky.

The plaza is themed around the ridgeline of Dawushan Mountain, featuring patches of lawn, native tree plantings, and misting installations to evoke a mountain atmosphere. At night, the lighting creates a new photo hotspot, turning the station-front corridor into an important urban and transportation landmark. Together with the nearby Pingtung Transfer Station, Pingtung Night Market, and Pingtung Lantern Festival, it helps attract new waves of visitors and presents a refreshed image.
