French director films in Taiwan, falls for Keelung’s picturesque harbor and nostalgic neighborhoods

Officials from the Keelung City Government revealed on the 25th that the currently filming French movie *La Justice ou le chaos* (provisionally translated as *Justice or Chaos*) chose Keelung as a filming location due to plot requirements, capturing many action scenes in its neighborhoods and along the coast. This marks the second time since 1960 that Keelung has welcomed a foreign production team. The shoot includes panoramic views of Keelung Harbor, the azure coastline at Dawu Beach, and the vibrant Temple Street area.

French director Vincent Garenq, known for works such as *No One Can Be Pardoned* and *A Doll with Two Dads*, helms this new film *Justice or Chaos*. It tells the story of a French man who meets and falls in love with a Taiwanese woman, only for her to suddenly disappear one day. In his search for her, he follows clues across France, Belgium, and Luxembourg before finally arriving in Keelung, Taiwan. Yang Jingyun, head of the Administrative Office’s News Department, stated that during initial discussions, they learned the director had originally scouted locations in Taipei but was ultimately drawn to the beauty of Keelung’s seascapes and its neighborhoods that retain the atmosphere of the 1980s.
