Beiwudang is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Introduction: The Beiwudang Ecotourism Area is a national 2A-level scenic spot. Located at the northwestern foot of the Helan Mountains in Dawukou District, Shizuishan City, starting from Chaoyang West Street, it is a comprehensive tourism area integrating mountains, forests, temples, geological relics, and military experience. Every September and October, the area hosts events such as the Beiwudang Double Ninth Festival Hiking Festival and temple fairs.

The Beiwudang Ecotourism Area consists of five attractions: The Dawukou Forest Park, an artificial ecological forest covering over 10,000 acres, showcasing the unique features of ecological construction in the arid desert regions of northwest China. The Beiwudang Temple, built in the 40th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1701), is a four-courtyard architectural complex with a natural layout, staggered arrangement, fine structure, symmetrical harmony, solemn beauty, and a fusion of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. During the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi once inscribed its name as “Protectorate Nation Longevity Buddha Chan Temple.” The Helan Mountain Beiwudang Geological Park, a provincial-level geological park covering 68.8 square kilometers, is rich in geological relics, with rugged rocks and lifelike, fantastical hoodoos. The steep and majestic mountain terrain makes it a natural museum showcasing a typical geological history evolution. Jiucaigou, a pristine mountain valley within the Helan Mountains, stretches over 10 kilometers, offering a cool, serene environment with lush water and grass. Coupled with some abandoned military facilities, it adds to the mysterious atmosphere, making it a great destination for exploration and adventure. The Xiaoquzigou petrified ancient tree, discovered in 1994, is a prehistoric plant over 200 million years old, belonging to the genus Tuo Mu. About 8 meters are exposed above ground, with the original tree being over 40 meters long and 60 centimeters in diameter. It holds high research and viewing value. Transportation: It is a 10-minute taxi ride from the city center.
