Guidegou Geological Park

The Guidegou Geological Park in the Helan Mountains is located within Dawukou District of Shizuishan City, in the northern part of the Helan Mountain range, covering an area of 68.8 square kilometers. Guidegou boasts unique advantages within the entire Helan Mountain system, featuring rugged rocks, steep and precipitous mountain ridges, numerous perilous peaks, and a grand, majestic landscape.

The stunning beauty and thrilling terrain of the Helan Mountains are all concentrated here. There are towering, steep mountains, lava formed from volcanic eruptions, cascading streams, fragrant and picturesque flowers and plants, frog croaks at nightfall, as well as twisted pines and cypresses and jujube trees heavy with fruit. Nationally protected endangered animals such as blue sheep, eagles, and cranes are often spotted here. It’s truly as if “the heavens wielded a divine axe, crafting wonders on earth; a haven for birds, where one listens to the waves at night.” The valley mainly features “Four Scenic Spots and One Spring,” namely the ancient Great Wall beacon tower, the Guidegou rock painting cluster, Zhuandonggou, Shayao Countryside, and the Tanshan Mountain Spring. These “scenic spots” and the “spring” form a beautiful landscape that showcases nature’s innate charm to the fullest, making it highly enticing. It is an excellent destination for science education, leisure, and adventure. It is currently being nominated as a national geological park.
