The Site of the May Seventh Cadre School serves as a patriotic education base and a national defense education base.

The Site of the State Council Directly Affiliated May Seventh Cadre School was established in May 2007 by the municipal Party committee and government on the foundation of the former State Council May Seventh Cadre School at Longhu First Station. It spans a total area of 8,900 square meters with a building area of 3,600 square meters, and overall showcases the scenes where 1,811 cadres, family members, and over 200 children dispatched from State Council agencies worked, studied, and lived here.

The scenic area currently consists of three parts: the Comprehensive Exhibition Hall, the Original Site Exhibition Hall, and the Living Experience Zone. The Comprehensive Exhibition Hall covers an area of 1,200 square meters and is divided into eight chapters and twenty-three units. It displays over 500 physical objects, more than 1,200 photos, and 500 written materials that reflect the production and living conditions of the cadre school students and their families under the specific historical circumstances of the time. Among them are items related to veteran scholars such as Lin Handa, Zhou Youguang, Ni Haishu, and Ye Laisi. The Original Site Exhibition Hall includes six dormitory buildings, highlighting the reproduction of labor tools, production scenes, and the original historical appearance, with a focus on the daily utensils and some valuable objects used by the veteran cadres and educated youths of that era. The dormitories of Chen Guangyao, Zhou Rongxin, Ye Laisi, Zhou Youguang, and Lin Handa have been arranged according to their original layouts, evoking a strong sense of nostalgia. The Living Experience Zone not only features various handicraft workshops such as a soy milk workshop and a chili workshop, but also offers fun and engaging activities like pulling a rickshaw and carrying a shoulder pole, allowing visitors to experience life in that period.

The original site of the museum and various historical materials vividly recreate a cross-section of the social and humanistic history of that specific historical period, reflecting, from one aspect, the level of social productivity and the spiritual outlook of the cadre school students at the time. It has been successively recognized as an Autonomous Region-level Patriotic Education Base, an Autonomous Region-level Cultural Relics Protection Unit, an Autonomous Region-level National Defense Education Base, and a Base of the Yan'an Research Association. It is a place where one can explore and reflect on the memories left by a unique period in history.
