Bao Guang Gui Hu Cultural Tourism Area

The Bao Guang Gui Hu Cultural Tourism Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Bao Guang Gui Hu Cultural Tourism Area is located in Xindu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, about 18 kilometers from downtown Chengdu. Within the area lies Bao Guang Temple, a grand and majestic complex covering an area of 100,000 square meters. It has been one of the four major Buddhist monasteries in southern China since the Qing Dynasty. The temple features five halls and sixteen courtyards, with main structures including the Mountain Gate Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Relic Pagoda, the Seven Buddhas Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Scripture Depository, the Bell and Drum Towers, the Sangharama Hall, the Guest Hall, the Paradise Hall, the Ancestral Hall, the Chanting Hall, the Arhat Hall, the Meditation Hall, the Portrait Hall, the Precept Hall, and the East and West Abbot Rooms. The layout is well-organized and meticulously arranged, among which the Arhat Hall is especially renowned. Outside the temple, Gui Lake was first built during the Sui and Tang dynasties, later becoming the garden retreat of Yang Shen, a prominent scholar of the Ming Dynasty. Gui Lake is an elegant official garden rich in cultural heritage, showcasing the exquisite artistry of classical Sichuan garden design. The park preserves 850 meters of ancient city walls in good condition, along with cultural relics in its collection such as Eastern Han dynasty portrait bricks, Tang dynasty gold and silverware, ancient books and fine editions, as well as calligraphy and paintings from various dynasties.
