The Xindu Yang Sheng’an Museum is located within the Yang Sheng’an Ancestral Hall and Guihu Lake, both of which are Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level. Covering an area of approximately 48,000 m², it is a classical cultural garden that exudes a profound humanistic atmosphere and boasts an elegant environment. The museum also houses a rich collection of precious historical relics unearthed in Xindu. Its collections span a wide range of categories, diverse themes, and distinctive cultural features, totaling over 1,600 artifacts across dozens of types including porcelain, calligraphy, paintings, currency, stone carvings, pottery, bronzeware, documents, bricks, and tiles, among which 37 are classified as national first-class relics. The museum’s “Eastern Han Dynasty Storytelling Figurine” and portrait bricks are renowned both in China and abroad, representing outstanding examples of Han Dynasty pottery and brick art. In addition, the Xindu Yang Sheng’an Museum serves as an important site in China for commemorating Yang Sheng’an and his academic legacy. It is also one of the few surviving classical gardens from the Sui and Tang dynasties in the country. Since the 1970s and 1980s, it has been listed as one of China’s top five osmanthus-viewing spots and top eight lotus-viewing destinations, with a long-standing and far-reaching culture of lotus and osmanthus. In 2009, the Xindu Yang Sheng’an Museum was designated as a National Second-Class Museum.
