The Shenzhenxi Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument serves as a patriotic education base.

The Shenzhenxi Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located on "Jizailiao" Mountain in Shenzhenxi Neighborhood Committee, Xiancheng Town, Chaonan District, Shantou City. It lies 7 km north of the National Highway 324 in Chendian, 6 km east of Liangying, 15 km south of Hongchang, and 8 km west of Junbu Town, Puning City. About 100 meters to the front left of the site is the Chaoyang Shenzhenxi Water Plant, the Shenzhenxi Reservoir is to the rear left, and 800 meters to the rear right is the renowned Shenzhenxi Cuifengyan Scenic Area in Shantou City.

During the Great Revolution period, Liu Dagang, an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China and a distinguished son of the Shenzhenxi people, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Chaopu-Hui County Soviet Government, mobilized local farmers here, established the first farmers’ association in Chaoyang County, and formed a Red Guards unit. Liu Dagang served as a committee member of the farmers’ association, while Liu Minghe was the captain of the Red Guards. Later, the two led their forces into the Da'nan Mountains, engaging in a series of struggles to establish and defend the Da'nan Mountain Revolutionary Base. They grew into key leaders of the base—Liu Dagang became the Chairman of the Chaoyang County Revolutionary Committee and Vice Chairman of the Chaopu-Hui County Soviet Government, while Liu Minghe served as the Captain of the Chaoyang County Red Guards and the Military Affairs Minister of the Chaopu-Hui County Soviet Government. They sacrificed their young and precious lives in the fierce fight against the enemy.

To commemorate Liu Dagang, Liu Minghe, and seven other martyrs from Shenzhenxi who died during the revolutionary struggle—including Liu Zhenkun, Liu Mimu, Liu Yadun, Liu Yachen, and Liu Defeng—the Chaoyang County People's Government selected the site on "Jizailiao" Mountain in Shenzhenxi to build the Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument in March 1971. The monument is 7 meters high and 1.2 meters wide, taking the shape of an upright rectangular structure with a semicircular top. Its upper front section is inscribed with "Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument," and the middle section features a granite slab engraved with the names of the seven martyrs. Below is a square base. There is also a 100-square-meter platform surrounded by granite railings. The monument was renovated in 1987, and the surrounding plaza was expanded. In 2002, stone sculptures of the seven revolutionary martyrs along with their platform were erected, along with a Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Pavilion. In 2008, a Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall was added. Covering an area of 140 square meters with a built-up area of 290 square meters, the hall now has a preliminary display setup. The total area of all facilities at the site is 1,220 square meters.

The Shenzhenxi Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit by the Chaoyang County People's Government in 1987 and recognized as one of the second batch of patriotic education bases in Shantou City in 2005. It is currently managed by the Shenzhenxi Neighborhood Committee. Since its completion in 1971, it has been open to the public free of charge, receiving visitors for commemoration and sightseeing, with approximately 70,000 visitors annually. Since being designated in 2005, the number of visitors has increased year by year, now reaching over 100,000 per year, making it a notable destination for red tourism. Every year on Tomb-Sweeping Day, officials and students from Shantou City visit the monument to lay wreaths and honor the martyrs’ great contributions.
