A long-standing beef soup shop in South District, Tainan – just NT$100 per bowl and comes with pork-fried rice!

The weather has been quite strange lately, turning cold then hot, then suddenly cold again, with temperature differences throughout the day reaching up to 11 degrees. It makes dressing appropriately quite a challenge. But having a steaming bowl of beef soup in the early morning when it’s cooler is just perfect – not only does it fill you up, it also brings a sense of comfort.

That day I had beef soup from a long-established shop in South District – Du Beef Soup.

A bowl for dine-in is just NT$100 and comes with pork-fried rice, which is pretty reasonable. The fried rice tastes slightly sweeter than most, giving it a unique flavor.

The beef bone-based broth is incredibly smooth with a hint of fat aroma. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feel too greasy even when it cools down a bit – how do they do that?!

The beef in the soup is tender, flavorful, and generously portioned.

I think Du Beef Soup is a high-quality spot where you can enjoy a hearty or a light meal. The sense of satisfaction you expect from a good bowl of beef soup is definitely here. This time I went on my own, but next time I’ll definitely bring the whole family.

After eating, you can swing by to grab some baked sesame cakes. The ones in the Shuijiao She area are really top-notch – feel free to pick your favorites and take a bunch home.

Right next to the beef soup shopis Dacheng Road Roast Duck.It’s also amazing. If you’re still not full (though I doubt that’s possible), take some home with you. The area around Dacheng Road / Ximen Road is truly packed with great shops, and there are even more new developments coming up in the area. Who knows, maybe some new hidden gems will pop up. That’s something I’m personally looking forward to.
