1. Taoyuan Valley Grassland
Located at the border of Gongliao District in New Taipei City and Toucheng Township in Yilan County, Taoyuan Valley boasts a vast 3-kilometer stretch of grassland, rivaling the beauty of Yangmingshan’s Qixing Grassland. The landscape where valleys meet ponds rivals the scenery of Swiss pastures. Choose any of the four hiking routes to the summit, all leading to a ridgeline over 500 meters above sea level, offering a 360-degree view of the azure Pacific Ocean and Guishan Island. If you’re lucky, you might even spot water buffaloes leisurely strolling across the grassland.

2. Dananwo Green Hills
This highly secluded “Dananwo Green Hills,” which is actually private land, is generously open to the public thanks to the owner’s kindness. In addition to planting flowers around the area, the owner allows free access. Endless stretches of lush green lawns are a feast for the eyes. The undulating terrain creates a gradient of light to dark green under the sunlight, perfect for relaxing, running, or rolling down the hills, or simply breathing in the phytoncides. It’s also great for a grassland picnic with friends.

3. Mujia Mountain Grassland
Located in Xinhua District, Tainan, this hidden grassland gem is known as “Mujia Mountain Grassland” or “Xinhua Grassland” and is often compared to Kenting’s Longpan Grassland. From the high point, you can take in the full sweep of the grassland, with its gently rolling hills and winding paths, some angles of which strikingly resemble Windows default wallpapers.Please note, Mujia Mountain Grassland is not a tourist attraction but a military firing range. Military exercises are held regularly, so visits are only recommended on holidays for safety.
