Golden Purple Peak

Among the 72 peaks of Mount Hengshan in Nanyue, there is a saying: “Sails turn with the Xiang River, and Mount Heng reveals nine faces.” Golden Purple Peak is located southwest of the county town. Originally named Zijin Peak (Purple Scarf Peak), the mountain is covered with azaleas. In spring, they bloom in a riot of colors, especially the purple azaleas, whose bright red blossoms are as striking as purple scarves—hence the name. At an elevation of 2,695 meters, it is home to the Hengshan TV Relay Station and is the highest point near the county town. From its summit, looking west, the peaks of Mount Heng rise above the clouds; turning east, the winding Xiang River glimmers like a silver ribbon; and below lies the ancient yet vibrant urban landscape of Hengshan County, bustling with prosperity. Watch the sunrise in the morning with its myriad crimson rays, admire the sunset in the evening with its boundless beauty, and gaze at the moonlight at night as tree shadows dance gently.
