Bailuo Airport

Bailuo Airport is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Bailuo Airport

Located in Hongdeng Village and Yanglin Village, Bailuo Town, Jianli County. From July 1940 to autumn 1941, the Japanese invading forces built an airport and associated defensive military facilities in Hongdeng Village and on Yanglin Mountain in Bailuo Town to control waterway traffic and the Canton–Hankow Railway transportation line. Hongdeng Airport covers an area of 16.67 million square meters, with one surviving circular bunker, four pillboxes, and one concealed bunker; Yanglin Mountain Airport now has a remaining area of about 300,000 square meters, including one runway and five aircraft shelters. The airport serves as important material for the study of the Japanese invasion of China during the war. (Fifth Batch)
