Monument to the Founding of the Sixth Red Army

The Monument to the Founding of the Sixth Red Army is located in the western suburbs of Wangqiao Town, Jianli County, Jingzhou City.

In February 1930, the Sixth Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army was established at Wangjiaqiao. To commemorate this significant historical event, the Monument to the Founding of the Sixth Red Army was built here in September 2005. The monument faces west and sits on the east; its base is hexagonal and has 12 steps, clad in marble. The main body of the monument is a frustum shape, standing 19.6 meters tall, with an inscription authored by Li Xiannian in November 1988. The monument primarily consists of the memorial structure and ancillary facilities such as a plaza, covering an area of 2,644 square meters.
