Airborne Force Military History Museum

The Airborne Force Military History Museum serves as a base for patriotic education and national defense education.

The Airborne Force Military History Museum is located in Xiaogan City, Hubei Province. Opened in 2010, it covers a construction area of 8,600 square meters and integrates multiple functions such as exhibition display, publicity and education, military history research, social services, and the collection and preservation of cultural relics and archives. Its exhibition design philosophy, construction scale, and display methods are leading among similar museums nationwide. The museum was registered with the Hubei Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics in 2011 and has been successively awarded titles such as "National National Defense Education Demonstration Base" and "First Batch of National Youth Student Core Socialist Values Cultivation Bases."

The main building of the museum has five floors: the first floor is the office area, while the second, third, and fourth floors are dedicated to the military history exhibition area, which is divided into six sections: the lobby, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, the Korean War, the development of the airborne force, and special exhibitions. The fifth floor houses a multifunctional auditorium equipped for video conferences, academic lectures, and 3D film screenings. On the east side of the museum’s front stands an 8-meter-tall, 3-ton bronze statue of Zhan Dianfang, a Special Class Merit recipient and First Class Hero; on the west side is a similar statue of Qiu Shaoyun, also a Special Class Merit recipient and First Class Hero. The overall architecture features a traditional Chinese style with a high platform and surrounding corridor, and the roof’s granite flying eaves and the granite railings at the base are adorned with bas-reliefs of parachutes, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of the airborne forces.

In August 2012, the Airborne Force Military History Museum was designated as a National National Defense Education Demonstration Base.
