In 2012, South Korean singer PSY shot to global fame with his hit song "Gangnam Style," and the iconic horse-riding dance from the music video sparked a worldwide trend among fans. Now, the plaza of the COEX Mall in Seoul’s Gangnam District has erected a giant "horse-riding dance" statue for PSY, creating a unique new local landmark.

When "Gangnam Style" was released in 2012, it quickly racked up an astronomical number of views on YouTube in a short period of time. To date, it has surpassed 2.45 billion views, making it the most-watched video in YouTube history. This also brought international fame to Seoul’s Gangnam District. To commemorate Psy’s achievement, the Korean government commissioned an approximately 8-meter-tall, multi-million-won metal sculpture at the COEX Mall plaza where parts of the video were filmed. The most fun part? When visitors take photos under the statue, the song "Gangnam Style" automatically plays, turning it into a much-talked-about new local landmark.
