Houji Island

Located on the north side of the international shipping lane — the Changshan Channel, Houji Island has long been equipped with navigation facilities. The island’s lighthouse and navigation gun (later replaced with a foghorn) are regarded by local fishermen as no less than a divine beacon from the sea god, earning it the nickname “Beacon Island.” Covering just 0.28 square kilometers with an elevation of 104 meters, Houji Island serves as the “eyes and ears” of the fishermen and a maritime sentinel for vessels sailing the seas.

The air on the island is incredibly fresh, and the sea breeze feels wonderfully soothing. The sky is filled with numerous seabirds, their numbers so vast they block out the sun in a spectacular sight. Many people often take boats here to feed seagulls and enjoy the stunning scenery.

Transportation

You can rent a speedboat or fishing boat at the fishing harbor on the north side of the Changdao Port breakwater, or join a sea tour route to get there.

Fees are generally included in the all-inclusive tickets of sea tour packages.
