By connecting nearby attractions such as the Ocean Culture and Popular Music Center and the Multi-functional Economic and Trade Park, the Dagang Bridge aims to transform the old harbor district of Kaohsiung into a scenic leisure corridor.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 22, with Premier Lai Ching-te and former Kaohsiung Mayor and current Presidential Office Secretary-General Chen Chu both in attendance.

The Dagang Bridge can complete both its opening and closing operations within just three minutes through horizontal movement. In addition to maintaining navigable access within the third ship channel, it also reduces travel time for the public entering the Port of Penglai area — it only takes two minutes to walk from the Dajie Light Rail Station to directly access the Penglai Harbor area via the Dagang Bridge, saving at least 30 minutes of walking distance and connecting the final mile of Asia New Bay Area.
The Dagang Bridge not only accommodates the passage of existing vessels and yachts in the third ship channel but also allows the public to enjoy a maritime experience close to the water, becoming a new attraction for Kaohsiung residents to view the waterfront, sightsee, relax, and take photos for social media.
