Former Residence of Cong Liangbi

The former residence of Cong Liangbi is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

The former residence of Cong Liangbi is located in Changyu Community, Dengzhou Subdistrict Office, Penglai City, dating back to the Republican era.

Constructed in the early years of the Republic of China, the residence faces north and originally consisted of five courtyards. Today, only two courtyards remain, featuring a post-and-lintel wooden structure with flush gable roofs.

On May 20, 2011, the former residence of Cong Liangbi was announced as part of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Yantai.

Cong Liangbi (1868–1945), also known by his courtesy name Tingmeng and Taoist name Liangwu, was from Congjia Village, Anxiang, Penglai County. He was a national industrial entrepreneur.

Born into a farming family, Cong worked as a shop assistant for the Dongshuntai Trading Company in Yantai and Shanghai during his youth. Due to his diligence, business acumen, and integrity, he was sent to represent the company as an investor’s agent at Kobe’s 96th Branch of Dongshuntai in Osaka, Japan, where he was responsible for purchasing matches for export to China.

Changyu Community: Established in July 2002, Changyu Community covers an area of 1.8 square kilometers.
