Rizhao Ocean Aquarium

The aquarium is located on the northern section of Bihai Road in Rizhao City, built along the coast. Inside the aquarium, you’ll find Asia’s longest 168-meter underwater acrylic viewing tunnel and the largest single acrylic landscape column with a diameter of up to 6 meters, making it the most spectacular sight along Rizhao’s coastal scenic route.

The most exciting part of Rizhao Ocean Aquarium is the 168-meter-long underwater tunnel, which is the longest underwater acrylic viewing tunnel in Asia. It features a circular enclosed space made of arched acrylic glass (commonly known as plexiglass), housing hundreds of species and tens of thousands of marine creatures. This is the best spot to admire marine life. The floor of the tunnel is an automated walkway, allowing visitors to stop and look up at the various fish. Through the three-dimensional transparent tunnel, you’ll be presented with a marvelous underwater scene — coral clusters, seaweed, reefs, and hundreds of species and tens of thousands of rare fish from China’s waters and the Pacific Ocean swimming in the azure sea. Being inside it makes you feel as if you’re deep in the ocean, offering a panoramic, multi-angle view of the mysterious underwater world and the dazzling array of rare and colorful marine creatures. It gives you a full sense of the ocean’s depth and vastness.

Transportation

You can take Bus No. 10, the double-decker sightseeing bus, or the North Coastal Tourist Sightseeing Line to reach the aquarium. Fares range from 1.5 to 3.5 RMB depending on the vehicle.
