The Lighthouse Tourist Scenic Area is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Lighthouse Tourist Scenic Area is situated on the picturesque Rizhao coastline, adjacent to Rizhao Port to the south, overlooking the boundless, azure waters of the Yellow Sea to the east, and linked to Wanpingkou (Rizhao’s Second Seaside Bathing Beach) to the north. It is named after the prominent maritime lighthouse on the shore. The scenic area has a 2-kilometer coastline and is home to a rare natural reef cluster along China’s northern shores.

The scenic area was opened to visitors in May 2005. Its planning and design scheme was the winning proposal from American firm EDSA, with landscape design carried out by Shenzhen Beilinyuan Landscape & Planning Design Co., Ltd., and overall renovation undertaken by the Rizhao Municipal Construction Commission. Covering a total area of approximately 500,000 square meters, the area is divided into three main functional zones: seaside leisure, hotel resort services, and specialty commercial facilities.

In the hot summer months, visitors can play by the reefs, splash in the water, or head out to sea to collect seashells and crabs. During autumn and winter, guests can enjoy the sea view and listen to the waves from the shore. Here, the sea and sky merge into one, offering breathtaking scenery that attracts crowds year-round, making it an ideal spot for sea viewing, wave listening, and watching the sunrise. The area welcomes around 2 million visitors each year.
