Rizhao Longmenju Water Conservancy Scenic Area

Rizhao Longmenju Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Sanzhuang Town, Donggang District, Rizhao City, approximately 40 kilometers east of the Rizhao coastline, covering an area of 16 square kilometers. The summit of the hill, known as Longmenju, stands at an elevation of 416 meters and is honored as the “First Hill by the Sea in Shandong.” It is classified as a soil and water conservation-oriented water conservancy scenic area.

The scenic planning adheres to the principle of prioritizing protection while emphasizing both development and preservation. Through measures such as closed-area conservation, afforestation, and the construction of water-retention projects, ecological restoration has been promoted, water sources have been conserved, and the water ecological environment has been improved. The scenic area boasts blooming flowers in three seasons and picturesque views all year round, making it an ideal destination for spring outings, summer retreats, autumn fruit picking, and winter snow scenery. Every corner of the scenic area is captivating, offering an appealing destination for those seeking a return to nature and the enjoyment of the great outdoors. In 2012, the scenic area invested 300 million yuan in upgrading and renovation, establishing eight distinctive sightseeing zones: the Entrance Service Area, the Liu Xie Cultural Tourist Area, the Longhu Lake Water Recreation Area, the Folk Custom Area, the Longhu Mountain Villa Resort Area, the Jiming Temple Buddhist Culture Area, the Dragon-Phoenix Tower Sightseeing Area, and the Eco-Experience Area. The scenic area has thus become a destination integrating business leisure, eco-tourism, fitness and wellness, and the experience of natural living, featuring the unique western characteristics of Donggang District, Rizhao. It realizes a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

The scenic area is a municipal-level forest park, one of Rizhao’s Top Ten Scenic Areas, and an official campsite of the Shandong Self-Drive Tour Alliance. In 2014, it was approved as the 11th batch of provincial-level water conservancy scenic areas.
