The Rizhao Archives serves as a patriotic education base.

The Rizhao Archives is located at No. 203 Yantai Road, Rizhao City, Shandong Province. It houses a collection of 286,000 volumes (items) of various archives and materials. It is a National First-Class Archives, a Provincial Civilized Unit, a Provincial Patriotic Education Base, a National Social Practice Base for Archival Education in Primary and Secondary Schools, and a Rizhao Civic Moral Education Demonstration Base. The building covers a construction area of 5,700 square meters, including an open exhibition hall on the first floor with an exhibition area of 1,200 square meters. The exhibition hall is open to the public free of charge every day from 9:00 to 17:00, including holidays.

The Rizhao Archives Bureau (Archives) places great emphasis on the development of the patriotic education base. It insists on prioritizing the enhancement of the social benefits of the base. By leveraging major memorial days and holidays, and using the archives' collections as the main resource, the bureau takes advantage of its location and venue advantages. Through organizing permanent exhibitions, thematic exhibitions, mobile exhibitions, building an online base, and establishing moral education bases with universities, it provides patriotic education, revolutionary tradition education, as well as education on national, provincial, and municipal conditions, and scientific and cultural knowledge to young people and all sectors of society. This highlights the role of the archives in recording history, passing on civilization, and serving society, earning widespread recognition from all sectors of society.
