Zhiman Historic and Cultural Village in Fangcheng Town

Zhiman Village in Fangcheng Town, Lanshan District, is the ancestral home of the Langya Yan clan and the birthplace of Yan Zhenqing, the renowned Tang Dynasty calligrapher, military strategist, and statesman. The village has long upheld filial piety and fraternal respect, earning the nickname "Filial Piety Village." Zhiman Village was formed by merging six natural villages, with a total of 1,460 households and 5,200 residents. It currently has 6,500 mu of arable land, including over 2,000 mu of greenhouse vegetable fields. The village boasts cultural tourism resources such as the ruins of Xingsheng Temple from the Northern Qi Dynasty, Shuangzhong Bridge, the Filial Piety Archway, and underground natural caves. Plans are underway to develop Zhiman as a historic and cultural village. Leveraging the cultural legacy of Yan Zhenqing’s hometown, the project will include the construction of 800 traditional-style homes with gray-tiled, gray-walled facades unique to Zhiman. These new residences feature earthquake resistance, moisture proofing, and thermal insulation, and come in over ten different layouts and sizes for residents to choose from voluntarily. A 106-mu core cultural area is also planned, featuring the restoration and construction of multiple cultural sites such as Yan Zhenqing’s former residence, Shuangzhong Ancestral Hall, Hanlin Academy, and the Filial Piety Pagoda. Additionally, a 600-meter-long commercial pedestrian street will be built to revive the prosperity of "Zhiman Street" during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
