Zhishan Scenic Area

Zhishan is located in Xinxin Office, Xintai City, 12 kilometers north of Xintai and 90 kilometers west of Mount Tai. Covering an area of 4 square kilometers, its main peak stands at an elevation of 440 meters. It got its name from facing Heishan Mountain to the east, but the pronunciation later evolved into "Sishan."

Zhishan boasts exquisitely unique terrain, majestic peaks, lush cypresses, and ever-flowing springs. According to legend, this is the place where the Dragon Maiden herded sheep, and where Liu Yi, who delivered a letter for the Dragon Maiden to Dongting Lake, eventually married her and settled down. To this day, relics such as Drunken Willow Stone, Willow-Gazing Mound, and Sheep Hoof Prints remain, along with numerous scenic spots and historical sites like Clear Sight Spring, Immortal Spring, Queen Mother’s Pool, Medicine King Bridge, Immortal Bridge, Bamboo Shoot Forest, and Eunuch Tomb. The main structures currently include the Dragon Maiden Temple, Shangqing Taoist Temple, and Kiln King Pavilion.
