Regarding the incident in early February where a femalehiker climbed Mount Tai without authorization and got into danger, and also to regulate tourism order on Mount Tai and ensure the safety of its resources, the Taian Municipal Govern-ment of Shandong Province recently issued the “Notice on Strengthening the Management of Entry into Mount Tai Scenic Area via Non-Tourist Routes,” which imposes a maximum fine of 5,000 yuan on individuals entering without approval via non-tourist routes.
According to the notice, the open tourist routes in the Mount Tai Scenic Area include four ticketed entry routes: the Central Mount Tai Trail, the Qin Imperial Trail, the Tianwai Village Tourist Road, and the Taohuayu Tourist Road, as well as surrounding sightseeing routes such as those to Yuquan Temple and Puzhao Temple. Other entry routes and adjacent areas are considered non-tourist routes, and no individuals or organizations are permitted to enter the mountain for sightseeing via these non-tourist routes.
For individuals who enter without approval via non-tourist routes, the Mount Tai Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau will impose fines ranging from 100 to 5,000 yuan in accordance with Article 34 of the “Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Nature Reserves.”
During periods of high forest fire risk, individuals who enter high-risk fire zones without approval will be fined between 200 and 2,000 yuan for individuals and between 2,000 and 5,000 yuan for organizations, in accordance with Article 52 of the “Forest Fire Prevention Regulations.” Individuals carrying fire sources, engaging in outdoor fires, or causing forest fires will be strictly penalized in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and those constituting a crime will be held criminally liable.
