King Bhumibol10on13passed away, leading the nation into a mourning period. However, the Thai government has approved that after the30-day mourning period for the Kingdom of Thailand, various entertainment activities and TV programs will officially resume on the14of this month.

Additionally, operating hours for entertainment venues such as bars and nightclubs will no longer be restricted, TV broadcasts will return to normal programming, and various sporting events can be held as usual. In consideration of people’s livelihoods and the needs of travelers, and given the arrival of the peak tourist season, the Thai government has decided to fully restore all activities. Restrictions on entertainment could otherwise impact the livelihoods of tourism and hospitality industry workers. Travelers from around the world can visit Thailand with peace of mind.

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that TV programs will also resume broadcasting, including the highly popular soap operas. However, he asked the public to cooperate, “Some programs must lower their volume, especially comedic dramas.” He also urged both citizens and tourists to continue respecting etiquette, “During this mourning period, avoid wearing inappropriate clothing” as a sign of mourning for the late King.
