Xintai Chaoyang Cave

Xintai Chaoyang Cave is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Chaoyang Cave scenic area is located 22 kilometers from downtown Xintai and combines cave exploration, recreation, and leisure. The cave is situated at the top of Chaoyang Cave Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 556 meters. To date, over 3,000 meters of the cave have been explored, with an average height of 5 meters and a maximum height of 10 meters. The main cavern hall spans over 200 meters from east to west and more than 100 meters from north to south. The cave features multiple interconnected chambers, with the narrowest section only wide enough for a person to pass sideways. Inside, streams flow gently, while stalactites, stalagmites, stone flowers, stone clouds, stone bells, and stone swords display a myriad of fascinating forms. There are over a hundred scenic spots, including the Yardang Mud Cave, Water Curtain Cave, Twisting Intestine Cave, Nine-Dragon Stream, Layered Cloud Waterfall, Flying Cloud Crossing, “Map of China,” “Shandong Peninsula,” “Antarctic Glacier,” Holy Mother’s Bed of Lishan, “Precious Horse Delivering Good Fortune (Turtle),” and “Standing Out Like the First Place in the Imperial Examination.” The temperature inside the cave remains a constant 17–18°C year-round, making it warm in winter and cool in summer—pleasant in all seasons.

Chaoyang Cave boasts a profound cultural heritage. As early as the Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Taoism flourished here, and Taoist temples were built to enshrine the statue of the Holy Mother of Lishan, complementing the culture of Mount Tai. Within the cave, shrines to the Holy Mother of Lishan, the Goddess of Childbirth, and the Ten Famous Physicians attract numerous worshippers each year who come to pay their respects, pray for blessings, longevity, and safety for their families.
