Jiuding Imperial Mountain

Jiuding Imperial Mountain is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Jiuding Imperial Mountain in Zhai Town, Xintai City, is located at the southern foot of Lotus Mountain and to the north of Wangjiazhai in Zhai Town. Map data indicates that Jiuding Imperial Mountain was originally named “Jiuding Huangshan.” During their southern tours, emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty passed through the Nine-Provinces Imperial Road at the foot of the mountain multiple times. When Emperor Qianlong toured the south, he set up a temporary imperial camp here and even composed poems in praise of the place. Based on this, the mountain was renamed “Jiuding Imperial Mountain.”

Jiuding Imperial Mountain has developed a unique tourism cultural context. The formation of this cultural context began with the opening of the Nine-Provinces Imperial Road in the tenth year of the Shunzhi era (1653) during the Qing Dynasty. The Nine-Provinces Imperial Road stretched from the capital in the north to Fujian in the south, serving as a major transportation artery connecting north and south. Within Xintai, the route of the Nine-Provinces Imperial Road largely follows the path of what is now Xianlu Road. To this day, in Zhai Town, there remains a stone stele inscribed with the “Preface to the Construction of the Stone Bridge,” commemorating the Qing-era reconstruction of a bridge along the imperial road.

Currently, local residents have begun to deeply explore the culture of the imperial road, establishing the thematic image of “the Nine-Provinces Imperial Road, a Qing-era relay station.” Building on this theme, they aim to develop Jiuding Imperial Mountain into an “open-air grand historical and cultural exposition of Xintai.”
