China Peony Garden

The China Peony Garden is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The China Peony Garden project has a total investment of 620 million yuan, covering an area of 1,200 mu. It is planned and constructed according to the standards of a "5A" level scenic spot, integrating peony variety conservation, a breeding base, and peony sightseeing. Over 900 varieties and more than 800,000 plants of peonies and tree peonies have been planted, including rare and precious varieties such as Zhao Fen, Dong Fang Jin, Shou An Hong, and Tree Peony Peonies; 200,000 tulips have been introduced, filling a gap in tulip cultivation in southwestern Shandong, among which the premium variety "Guo Tai" tulip was personally named by [a notable figure]; additionally, 600,000 lavender plants, 200,000 chrysanthemums, and 2,000 wintersweet trees have been planted to ensure flowers can be enjoyed all year round. To integrate Heze’s culture of calligraphy and painting, folk traditions, and history, cultural projects such as the Li Ronghai Art Museum, Longrenkang Pottery Gallery, and "Sunday 8" Town have also been introduced. Once completed, the project is expected to receive 500,000 visitors annually, generate 200 million yuan in tourism revenue, and 30 million yuan in tax revenue, making it the world’s largest base for peony variety conservation, breeding, and sightseeing.

The China Peony Garden has planted over 900 varieties and more than 2 million plants of peonies and tree peonies. Among them, Zhao Fen, Dong Fang Jin, Shou An Hong, and Tree Peony Peonies are rare and precious varieties.

The scenic area has also planted 600,000 lavender plants, 200,000 chrysanthemums, and 3,000 red maples, ensuring flowers can be enjoyed throughout the year. The first phase of the garden has built an antique commercial street, a flower viewing tower, the Three Immortals Temple, a Century Peony Garden, a protected base for peony varieties, and a fruit-picking garden.

To further improve the park’s scenic facilities and serve more visitors, the second phase will include the construction of a resort hotel, wellness community, rare treasures museum, Caozhou Celebrity Hall, Caozhou Cultural Hall, amusement park, zoo, and other projects.

From 2015 to the present, the China Peony Garden has hosted the first and second Heze Chrysanthemum Culture & Art Festivals, the 25th Heze Peony Cultural Tourism Festival, the first Heze Dream Light Festival, the Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao-Guangdong Food Festival, the Water Splashing Festival, the Enchanted Carnival, and the first Caozhou Cultural Temple Fair, receiving a total of 500,000 visitors.
