Peony Blossoms Fill the Garden – Free Royal Costumes for a Forbidden City Experience

The Shanlinxi Forest Recreation Area in Zhushan, Nantou, has long been a renowned spot for flower appreciation, with different blooms gracing the park each month, creating a year-round spectacle of vibrant colors. As spring transitions into late April during the Grain Rain season, it’s the perfect time for peonies to bloom. The garden is stunningly adorned with lush and graceful flowers, and visitors can even don free Qing Dynasty-style imperial costumes in the peony garden for memorable photos.

The Shanlinxi Peony Season begins in March and continues through the end of April, with this year’s peak blooming period occurring from late March to early April. The garden features a wide variety of large, showy blooms. Tens of thousands of peonies in shades of crimson, pink, white, light yellow, and purple sway gracefully in the spring breeze.

Additionally, from Saturday, March 30th to the end of April, on public holidays as well as Saturdays and Sundays, visitors can experience free Qing Dynasty imperial costume dress-up from 09:30 to 14:30. Dress as a noble lady and stroll through the peony garden, as if traveling back in time to a royal garden of centuries past, immersing yourself in the intrigue of Qing Dynasty palace life.
