The peonies are in bloom！ The peonies of Shanlinxi in Nantou are renowned far and wide. The floral season kicks off today, with the park featuring 55 varieties of bright red and pink peonies, totaling tens of thousands of blossoms. The blooming period will continue through mid-May. The Shanlinxi Forest Ecological Park stated that the peacock auxiliary lantern “Exotic Birds in Brilliant Competition” is also on display here. Visitors can enjoy the flowers during the day and the lanterns at night.

Park officials said that Shanlinxi has been cultivating peonies for 20 years. Since last year, 8,000 peony plants of various varieties have been introduced from Luoyang to launch the“Shanlinxi Luoyang Peony Flower Festival”. Currently, the park has cultivated over 10,000 peony plants. Their colors have expanded from the early single shades of red, pink, and yellow to more recent hues such as dual-color blooms, dark backgrounds with gold stamens, and red tinged with pink—making the peonies even more vibrant and luxurious..

The county government’s Tourism Department pointed out that the Peony Flower Festival is a rendezvous between Shanlinxi and over 100,000 visitors. The brightly colored flowers, paired with Shanlinxi’s lush green forests and sweet-smelling air, make visiting here feel like stepping into a “fairyland on earth.”
