Heze Museum is a patriotic education base.

Heze Museum is the only national third-grade museum in our city. Located at No. 537 Huaying Road, Heze City, it covers an area of 13,000 square meters, with a building area of over 4,000 square meters and an exhibition area of more than 2,000 square meters. It is a patriotic education base in Shandong Province and Heze City, a science education base in both the province and the city, and a municipal-level civilized unit in Heze.

The predecessor of Heze Museum was the Heze Region Mao Zedong Thought Exhibition Hall, established in 1967. In 1972, it was renamed the Heze Region Exhibition Hall. In June 1980, the Heze Region Exhibition Hall merged with the Heze Region Cultural Relics Management Station and was subsequently renamed the Heze Region Cultural Exhibition Hall. In 1985, it was again renamed the Heze Region Museum. In December 1991, the Heze Region Museum began selecting a site to build a new museum, which was completed and opened to the public in April 1996. In 2000, following the conversion of Heze Region into a municipality, the Heze Region Museum was renamed Heze Museum.

Heze Museum houses nearly 10,000 cultural relics. Valuable and exquisite artifacts include the Late Shang Dynasty bronze Zufu You with a taotie pattern, Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white dragon-patterned plum vase, Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white fish-and-algae-patterned tall-footed bowl, Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white flower-and-bird-patterned flared-rim plate, Yuan Dynasty white-glazed brown-painted dragon-and-phoenix-patterned jar, Yuan Dynasty egg-white-glazed cloud-dragon-patterned tall-footed cup, Jun porcelain saucer stand, Yuan Dynasty Longquan celadon eight-treasure-patterned plate, Yuan Dynasty wooden riverboat, rhinoceros horn cup, Tang Yin’s "Landscape Chess Game," and Li Guxi’s "Willow and Swallow Painting," all of which are highly treasured artifacts.

Heze Museum has five exhibition halls. The "Collection Highlights Exhibition" showcases over 100 carefully selected relics, reflecting the long and splendid history and culture of Heze. The "Exhibition of Relics Unearthed from the Yuan Dynasty Shipwreck" displays more than 120 artifacts recovered from the shipwreck, recreating the advanced river transport culture and vibrant social life of the Yuan Dynasty in Heze. The "Exhibition of Yuan Dynasty Ancient Ships" presents the grand Yuan Dynasty wooden riverboat, along with detailed introductions to the discovery process of the sunken ship, the exquisitely unearthed relics, and preliminary research findings on the ancient wooden vessel. In addition to organizing series of painting and calligraphy exhibitions during major municipal events and festivals such as the spring Heze International Peony Fair and the autumn Forestry Trade Fair, the museum also actively conducts political, cultural, and scientific publicity through temporary exhibitions. Its hosted exhibitions such as the "Large-Scale Scientific Development Concept Photo Exhibition" and the "Cherish Power – Preventing Official Crimes Large-Scale Photo Exhibition" have drawn significant public attention. The "Peony Cup National Masters’ Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition" is a permanent cultural event in Heze, while exhibitions like the "Smiles in Summer Vacation – Children’s Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition" and the "Prevent Internet Addiction · Grow Healthily Chart Exhibition" are very popular among the city's children.
